It was very interesting to give presentation at NTEC today. Chris Mitchell, Head of the IT Faculty of NTEC invited me to talk to the IT students about the projects I am currently working on. It was an honour to share my passion about integration of Business and IT in the Small Business scenario in New Zealand. We met at the Auckland ICT Cluster meeting and I had a discussion with him about the projects I have been working on.
In my 45 minutes long presentation I wanted to make the next generation IT graduates aware of the fact is that "Opportunity" can be created based on the technology gap in the market to connect an entrepreneur's dream with the end goal.
The data released by Statistics New Zealand also shows how much opportunities are there as New Zealand businesses - specially small ones started integrating technologies to take the advantage of marketing, operations, sales and management decision making.
Based on my last year's experience with projects - I shared my experience in the web development, cloud computing and services and business process & marketing with the help of different software as services.
I was glad to see the interests amongst the attendees about those projects.
The presentation is available as a video below or you can access it here.
I have registered our company (Raffles College) as participant of this New Zealand's largest ever earthquake drill. After the Christchurch - every New Zealander knows the value of getting prepared for the "D" day. More than 1.2 million people will participate in this earthquake drill. As per the ShakeOut Government website - Whether you are at home, work or school join in and practice "Drop, Cover and Hold"—the right action to take in an earthquake. More details you can find out about this drill by clicking on the banner above. What I feel is being prepared is no loss and knowing how to take shelter if the disaster happened might save my life.
