I have been part of tertiary education industry for last 12 years. As an IT professional working as a solution architect I have came across various challenges that are faced in this industry. The large user base coupled with shrinking budget always make you look out for solutions which will not compromise the quality nor security in the long run. I guess that's the biggest challenge. Then came various devices that needs integrated to your network. We are talking about collaborative environment and I guess this year's theme in the conference "Integrating Everything" rightly puts this challenge in to perspective which needs to be addressed.
I am excited and looking forward to attending this conference which will give me opportunities to listen to the industry experts and fellow colleagues from same industry as to how they are overcoming the challenges. This also brings Raffles into forefront of the industry as to branding and knowing quality people works for Raffles ... ha ha.
Date : Wednesday 3rd to Friday 5th October 2012 Venue : CPIT, Madras Street Campus, Christchurch, New Zealand
The conference gave exposure to Private Tertiary Education providers this time as predominantly it is university and polytechnic based. For PTE any expenditure is a challenge as we don't have large budget nor research grant to work with. Instead we have to innovate and work out a solution based on complex Open Source solutions. It was good hear the engineering side of designing productive intelligent whiteboards on trolleys to application development along with the focus on security.
I always wanted to visit this historical city specially after the earthquake to city how the city is being rebuilt from scratch.
